GE DS200NATOG2A Functional Description

        The DS200NATOG2A is a voltage feedback regulator board manufactured and designed by General Electric as part of its Mark V Series for gas turbine control systems. The Voltage Feedback Scaling Board (NATO) attenuates the AC and DC voltages of the SCR bridge so that the bridge voltage feedback can be accurately derived. The board is used in conjunction with two other boards, the VME Backplane and the Gate Distribution and Status Board.
  • Input
        The NATO board contains a string of five identical precision resistors connected in series. There is one string for each of the three AC phases and one string for each of the positive and negative DC bus voltages. Each string can be configured with three different input stub connectors and two wire jumpers to attenuate 6900, 4200, 3300, 2200, or 1200 volt inputs.
  • Outputs
        The outputs of the five strings are connected to a single 20-pin ribbon header (see Table 2). Metal oxide varistors (MOVs) prevent the output voltage of each string from being too high if the output ribbon circuit is interrupted in the presence of input voltage. The load resistors are located on the Gate Assignment and Status board, not on the NATO board.
GE DS200NATOG2A Application

        Resistor Strings: The resistors on this board are divided into five resistor strings, designated by letters A through E (see string headers in Figure 1). Each string has three input points (stub connectors) for a total of 15 input points. Each string has two selectable jumpers for a total of 10.

        Stub Connectors: Each of the five resistor strings has three stub connectors, allowing the input power to be connected to a different number of resistors to accommodate different voltages. In the Stub Connectors column of Table 1, replace x with the string indicator to find the appropriate connector. For example, for string C, the associated stub connectors are JC, JCA, and JCB.
